1830 . . Henry Archer, a Dublin entrepreneur, begins work to promote what was to become the FR, surveyed by James Spooner. Lewis
1831 23 Feb Archer's FR bill presented to Parliament but meets opposition from vested interests. Lewis
1831 22 Jun Archer's bill once again submitted to Parliament but fails a second time. Lewis
1832 19 Jan Archer's FR bill presented for a third time. Lewis
1832 25 May FR Parliamentary Bill receives Royal Assent with suitable safeguards for the Madocks Estate, the Oakeleys, and the Traeth Bach slate carters Lewis
1833 26 Feb W.G.Oakeley lays first stone near Creuau as construction by James Smith of Caernarfon proceeds using a gauge of "about 2ft". Lewis
1834 . Apr James Smith discharged by Archer and work to complete the line by the FR Co is put under James Spooner. Lewis
1834 . Aug Samuel Holland Jnr agrees to use the railway for the transport of slates Winton
1836 20 Apr FR opens for Holland's slate traffic (using horse operation) although the inclines were incomplete. Lewis
1836 . . Archer's active involvement in the FR ceases as a result of Boardroom disputes. Lewis
1837 . Dec Agreement with Welsh Slate Co. to use the railway Winton
1838 . Oct Welsh Slate Co. slates carried on FR for the first time through an incline connection at Rhiwbryfdir. Lewis
1839 . . Rail connection into Holland's quarry at Blaenau Ffestiniog achieved through the construction of an incline. Lewis
1839 . Dec Construction of 730 yard Moelwyn Tunnel commences Winton
1842 1 Jan Agreement to carry slate of Rhiwbryfdir Slate Co, connected by incline at Dinas. Boyd
1842 24 May Moelwyn Tunnel opens Winton
1843 . . FR Co pays first dividend - 7% Winton
1845 . . FR carries materials for opening up of Cwm Orthin quarry. Boyd
1848 . . Incline connected into Llechwedd quarry from Rhiwbryfdir. Boyd
1848 . . First slate output from Maenofferen quarry carried over the FR from Duffws. Output ceases 1849-1856. Boyd
1850 . . First Cwm Orthin slate passes down FR from Tanygrisiau. Boyd
1851 . . 60 yard Garnedd Tunnel cut Boyd
1851 31 Mar Hafodty quarry commences to use the FR for slate carriage for just a few weeks Boyd
