Llanfair is a 3 ft gauge de Winton 0-4-0VBT built in 1895 for use in the Penmaenmawr granite quarries. This interesting type of locomotive, used in many North Wales slate quarries, was built in Caernarfon at works opposite the Welsh Highland Railway terminus and was obtained for museum display in the sealed bid auction following the closure of the Gloddfa Ganol collection; it is believed that the ex-Penrhyn loco Kathleen would have been preferred, but a higher bid was made. Llanfair formed part of the temporary museum display in Dinas Goods Shed. It is now displayed on the platform at Dinas.
