Taxi 2 is a 3.5-ton Andrew Barclay 4wDH (Builder's number 554 of 1970), supplied to 2ft 6ins gauge for ICI Explosives works at Ardeer in Scotland. It returned to Barclay's Kilmarnock works for rebuilding in 1987, receiving number 6613.

Arriving at Porthmadog on 27 May 1993, the locomotive was one of two obtained from Nobels Explosives Ltd, Powfoot, near Annan, Dumfriesshire (the other being Taxi 1).

On arrival it was soon regauged and placed in service, becoming a favourite on works trains because of its user-friendly features.

In July 2003, it was moved to Rhyd Ddu on the WHR(C) for use in construction works, becoming the first locomotive to run over the entire Rhyd Ddu to Waunfawr section, in August, before returning to its southern base.
