Quarry Hunslet 0-4-0ST Jerry M visited the Ffestiniog Railway in April to May 2008.
Originally named Vaenol (builder's number 638 of 1895) it is one of two examples of the "mills" or "tramroad" type supplied to the Dinorwic quarries. With 8½" x 14" cylinders, these locomotives were similar in size to the FR's Lilla, built earlier for Cilgwyn Quarry. Among the quarry tanks, only the "main line" locomotives Charles, Blanche and Linda at Penrhyn were larger.
Jerry M is now part of the Hollycombe Collection based at Liphook in Hampshire and arrived in north Wales for a visit to the FR on 20 April 2008, exchanging places with Palmerston. It worked on the FR throughout May 2008, returning to Hollycombe to appear at the annual 'Hollycombe Steam Gala' weekend on 31 May and 1 June.
Jerry M returned to the FR in 2018 for Hunslet 125.
The photo to the left shows Jerry M at Minffordd Yard during the Saturday of the event, along with other Hunslets on display.
