Carriage 2050 is a WHR third class saloon carriage under construction in 2026.
Background
[edit]The carriage is of the "third" design of modern Welsh Highland Railway carriage (i.e. with panoramic windows aligned with each seating bay, no drop windows and opening toplights, as with carriages 2046 and 2047).
It will be constructed at Boston Lodge. It was due to replace 24 on WHR service trains when complete and to allow both WHR heritage coaches to be withdrawn from everyday usage, overhauled and used only on heritage trains in future.[2]. In fact, coach 24 moved to a heritage trainset before 2050 went into service; 2050 will probably replace a FfR corridor coach used in a WHR trainset when it goes into service in 2026.
