Carriage 125 is a Ffestiniog Railway service car in the Superbarn series.

Background[edit]

Following in the footsteps of Carriage 124, this carriage is the second Ffestiniog Railway service car. It was constructed as part of the railway's upgrading of B-Set, replacing both Carriage 111 and Carriage 14 to provide guard's accommodation, a toilet and an improved buffet car. The buffet stores racks are large enough for most stores to be loaded in the packaging in which they are received. The kitchen facilities are so good that even the staff drinks are kept in a refrigerator.

It is paired with first class observation coach number 150. The internal layout is similar to that of 124, but externally the carriage is to the superbarn design.

Carriage 125 entered the Boston Lodge paintshop on the 10th of March 2016.

Entry into Service[edit]

Carriage 125 entered public service alongside carriages 150 and 117 on the Sunday of the 2016 May Day bank holiday as part of the new upgraded B-set. Prior to this it saw use on a number of special trains in the weeks leading up to the public launch. These included The Snowdonian, an official launch for invited VIPS and the FR Society AGM Special.

In June 2017 carriage 125 went into Boston Lodge for a few days for work to make the generator quieter.
