Carriage 117 is an all third saloon carriage in the Super Barn series.

Background[edit]

By December 2015, the carriage was largely completed and awaiting installation of a heating system and some electrical work. This vehicle is built to the revised Super Barn design with large panoramic windows, and is very similar to Carriage 119, built the previous year.

Carriage 117 entered public service alongside carriages 150 and 125 on the Sunday of the May Day bank holiday 2016, as part of the new upgraded B-set. Prior to this it saw use on a number of special trains in the weeks leading up to the public launch. These included The Snowdonian, an official launch for invited VIPS and the FR Society AGM Special.
